ensemble L’Abrupt : a presentation

The work of Ensemble L'Abrupt is centered on an approach which places the dancer-performer at the very heart of the undertaking / The dancer's dance / Putting the performers, with their abilities and admitted failures, at the center of a creative process based on a rigorous commitment vis-à-vis what needs to be done / What's at stake for the performer / The dancer grappling with a set of restrictions in free improvisations / The performer at work / Seizing directions, letting them be resolved according to each corporal coherence /

The objective is to re-question the dancer's performance in the face of risk-taking, in seeking out the limits between spontaneous and learned movements / The choreographic structures and improvisational constraints set up by Alban Richard encourage the emergence of a wide diversity of solutions and reveal coherences or abilities connected to the reflexive movements and "postural entrenchments" of each dancer / From this diversity of responses, the work takes a particular direction according to the investigations undertaken in each piece/
